Don't Make Spying a Habit
Surveillance Technology Employed by the Israeli Authorities:
Information, Dangers, and Fighting Back
Many new surveillance technologies were found to have been used by the authorities against citizens and residents
Cameras in public spaces, license plate identification, facial recognition technology, spyware in cellphones, cellphone location trackers, and more. The use of these technologies is often unregulated, and they tend to operate in secret. These new technologies make it possible for us to be constantly tracked, and can easily and inexpensively document our entire lives.
Intrusive surveillance of citizens is a prominent feature of undemocratic regimes
The dystopia described in George Orwell’s 1984 is technologically possible. If we do not set limits for the authorities, we will end up with a police state instead of a state with police, living in a society in which our every movement is monitored and stored and the government has access to our private information with the click of a button.
This website will lay out the surveillance technologies and methods used by the Israeli authorities. It will share information and updates about our work, and offer suggestions for how you can take action.
